Can Fleming and Hutchins help lead the way for Great Britain?
So, as every tennis fan knows, the decades haven’t always been kind to Great Britain when it comes to discussing tennis in the nation.
Things have gotten much better, though, with the emergence in recent years of Andy Murray.
Now, can the doubles team of Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins help eradicate all that doubt?
The two have been playing together regularly, and this year, they’ve made the quarterfinals of “hometown tournament” Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. This week, Fleming and Hutchins are the number three seeds at the St. Petersburg Open and have already reached the semifinals.
As of right now, they’re not exactly in the running for a spot at the year-end championships, but provided they keep playing together, that can come with time. The next few weeks can be telling as to whether they’re part of the Great Britain renaissance.
