Pennetta’s Set for Double Duty

The finals are set in the Australian Open warm-up in Auckland, New Zealand, and it’ll be Julia Goerges and Flavia Pennetta taking on the Czechs, Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Hlavackova. All four are top 40 doubles players so it should be a good final.

Hradecka and Hlavackova are the reigning French Open champs, and Pennetta knows a thing or two about doubles herself, as she’s the defending Aussie champ with Gisela Dulko.

It’s going to be a busy day for Pennetta as she’s also set to play in the singles final against Zheng Jie!

Pennetta has been one of the WTA’s most consistent dual threats for a few years now, reaching the top 10 in singles in her career and for the first time last year, number one in doubles.

A double win in Auckland would be as perfect a start to the season as a player could hope for, and it’s well within her sights right now.
