Lindstedt and Tecau: Ready for a Return to the Winner’s Circle

April 26, 2012

At the ATP World Tour stop in Bucharest, top seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau (the hometown kid) have advanced to the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Michael Mertinak and Andre Sa.

That’s a very convincing win for Lindstedt and Tecau as Mertinak and Sa have already made three finals together this year, which they did in consecutive tournaments recently. Lindstedt and Tecau have actually only made one final appearance so far in ’12, even though they did reach the semifinals of the Australian Open, the year’s first Major.

They’ve been one of the most consistent teams of the past two seasons, having won six events total in that span, and they’ve also finished runners-up at Wimbledon twice. Lindstedt and Tecau have had success on all surfaces, especially clay, with four of their wins coming on the dirt. A victory in Romania could give them great momentum heading into the year’s second Slam, the French.

Next up for the duo in this tournament is the veteran pairing of Australians Paul Hanley and Jordan Kerr. But after the display of form they put on against Mertinak and Sa, Lindstedt and Tecau should be up for the challenge.
