Hand Over the French Open Trophy Now to Errani and Vinci?

May 22, 2012

Maybe it shouldn’t be a foregone conclusion, but the way they’re playing this year, you really have to like the chances of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci at the French Open.

The Italians won their “hometown” event in Rome over the weekend. That’s on the heels of capturing the title in Madrid, which followed their winning run in Barcelona. Errani and Vinci have also won in Acapulco and Monterrey this year, and made the finals at the two biggest hard-court events so far of the season: Miami and the Australian Open.

In other words, they’re playing quite well—an understatement to say the least!

Going into the year’s second Grand Slam, they’re the team to beat, especially when looking at their clay-court prowess. But you never know what’s gonna happen when it’s time to serve ’em up.

However at this winning pace, Errani and Vinci have to like their chances.
